As a nation, we need to prevent normal business cycles from reaching catastrophic economic crisis periods. And we must do so without setting ourselves up the future failures through the law of unintended consequences. These economic crashes are totally preventable and we ought to be working on solving the long-term problems while we instill confidence.

We must do something now to help the trucking industry or we will have no trucking companies or drivers left. Free enterprise is one thing, but people that do not own trucks are now quoting the freight and brokering or offering it out for even less than the truck needs to operate and even less than minimum wage to the truck driver. Record numbers of trucking companies and owner operators are going out of business right now.
